The weather outside might be frightful, but that’s just one more good reason among many to stay at home and shop locally in the Crowsnest Pass.
It’s no secret that the national and the global economy has slowed down in recent times. The effects are felt by everyone who owns a business, whether it’s the large corporation cutting jobs to make ends meet or whether it’s the small town shop owner struggling to pay the bills.
But the small town shop owner has less room for error, and much less of a safety net. When times get tough, a community has to band together and support the people who live and work here and the businesses that help make the Pass a good place to live.
Of course, not every product can be purchased locally –– but many can. Even small changes can add up to big success over the long run, whether it’s buying clothing or food locally instead of out of town, or whether it’s coming back to eat at local restaurants after day-trips out of town. |
The Crowsnest Pass offers many products and services. The Pass Herald itself is filled with advertising from many of these local merchants, all of whom would appreciate your support all year round.
Visitors to the community and seasonal or part-time residents can also make a difference, by purchasing products locally during their stay instead of bringing items from abroad. Those who do this already make a great contribution to the community, even though the contribution may seem small on any individual receipt.
Show your community spirit this winter and beyond, by taking the effort to buy products and services locally, and by helping the local economy remain healthy for everyone who calls the Crowsnest Pass home.
