The Chamber of Commerce has submitted the results of a downtown parking survey to council, and on Tuesday, March 10, council considered the information.
The Chamber received 27 responses from businesses in downtown Blairmore. The survey asked if people supported angle parking where it is, on both sides of the street, or changed to the south side of main street.
Five businesses supported changing angle parking to the south side, four supported angle parking on both sides, and 18 supported keeping the parking system the same as it is now. |
Respondents to the survey made suggestions, such as eliminating one angle parking space at the corner of each block for safety reasons, and enhancing these spaces with benches or planters instead. The post office intersection was highlighted as a problem area for parking.
CAO Gordon Lundy said that the suggestion to eliminate the corner parking spaces is a good one, because people cannot see around longer vehicles that park in those spaces.
