In the wake of one large local hockey tournament (see page 12 of this issue) comes another, as the Crowsnest Pass Atom Thunder host 15 other teams from southern Alberta and the Elk Valley in a three-day hockey extravaganza.
Approximately 250 young hockey players, along with their families, will spend March 20, 21, and 22 in the Pass for the tournament. The teams come from Calgary, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, the Elk Valley, and all points between.

She says that the tournament is more of a fun event for all the kids involved, without the highly competitive atmosphere of playoff hockey.
"It'll be a good fundraiser for Minor Hockey," adds Snider. Most of the work at the tournament, right down to the concessions and the timekeeping, will be done by parent volunteers. The ability to host large tournaments such is a big financial boost for the organization, she says.
