Though council’s expressed opinions appeared to be leaning against the Gold Creek development plan when discussions began, the developers saw their area structure plan pass on Tuesday, April 7, after several months of talks and delays.
The planned development calls for 25 country residential properties on approximately 90 acres of land north of Frank. When the rezoning and area structure plan first came to council, concerns were expressed about the road leading into the development, about the use of land, about the use of a septic system instead of sewer, and about potential impacts on wildlife.

The developers have attempted to address these issues with council over the end of winter and early spring.
The rezoning passed at a previous meeting, and at this one Councillor David Cole made the motion to pass third reading of the area structure plan for the development.
Councillor Gary Taje spoke in opposition. He said that the revenue the municipality will see from these 90 acres could be gained from only one acre of regular residential development closer to an urban centre.
