The Crowsnest Pass RCMP Detachment received its newest member last week, as Constable Ryan Di Loreto joined the local enforcement team.
Di Loreto, 27 years old, is fresh from depot to his first assignment here in the Pass. Originally from London, Ontario, Di Loreto previously worked as a paramedic before applying to become a police officer.
“I decided on a career change and wanted to join the RCMP,” says Di Loreto. “I’ve always had policing in mind. I’ve never been much of a desk person.”
His first shift came Tuesday, June 9, and Di Loreto says that he has really enjoyed the people and scenery of the Pass so far.
“I’m very happy to be here,” he says. “Being out here is amazing. It’s definitely the best scenery I’ve ever seen, anywhere.” |

He adds that his coworkers at the detachment have been great to work with, and that he has enjoyed driving around and starting the process of getting to know people. He will be thrown right into the public spotlight as well, dressing in red serge to take part in the Bellecrest Days parade in Hillcrest on June 20.
Outside of work, Di Loreto is into several sports, primarily basketball, baseball, and running. He looks forward to learning more about the area through mountain biking and camping as well.
One thing he likes best about his job, he says, is that he gets to be outside every day, and always doing something different.
