Local goaltender Alex Wakaluk is getting a shot at one of the most prestigious traning camps in Alberta, with a chance at making the Under 17 team for British Columbia and Alberta at the 2010 Under 17 World Hockey Challenge.
Alex, son of former NHL goaltender Darcey Wakaluk, will turn 16 in August, and is one of the younger players involved in the try-outs. |
The process began last year, when Alex attended an Under 16 training camp, and was invited back this spring for the Under 17 South Camp for Alberta. After that camp, he was one of 46 players in the province invited to the final Alberta camp, which will take place this July.
Only six goaltenders have been invited to the camp, and only one from Alberta will be selected for the final team, along with a goaltender from B.C.
