When visitors enter the municipality from the west and get past Crowsnest Lake, one of the first things they see as the valley opens up is the large, well-made sign for Devon Canada's gas plant. That sign, constructed only a year ago, was severely damaged by bullets over the May 8 weekend, likely on the night of Sunday, May 9.
The sign was struck more than 60 times by projectiles from an unknown weapon, with further damage sustained by the spotlight in front of the sign and by a nearby streetlight at an intersection with Highway 3. The sign sits directly beside the highway.

Because the sign was constructed by specialized reflective tiles bolted in place, Devon Canada estimates that approximately $25,000 to $30,000 in damage was sustained.
Crowsnest Pass RCMP states that the matter is under investigation. Devon Canada is hoping that members of the public, be they residents or people who were simply passing through, might have seen something along the highway that could help identify the perpetrators.
