With a new and active board in place and a new program director appointed, the
Boys and Girls Club of Crowsnest Pass is making a full recovery from last year’s unexpected closure due to financial reasons, and will be offering summer programs to the community this year.
“It is with great excitement and pride that we are able to announce a full roster of summer programming,” says Clara Yagos, club president. “We feel these programs will meet an important need for youth of Crowsnest Pass.”
The club has hired Pass resident Amanda Gail as the new program director, and is in the process of hiring summer program leaders. A full slate of summer activities are planned to begin in early July.
Gail, has been an active community member throughout her life. On top of owning her own guiding company, she has been an active Air Cadet in her teens, teaches at the ski hill, and has worked with many different age groups.
“We’re starting fresh,” says Gail. “We’re building it from the ground up. I’m looking forward to the progress we’ll make. That’s why I wanted this position.”
Her vision, with the support of her board, is to transform the local club into one of the premier outdoor-oriented Boys and Girls Clubs in Canada, taking full advantage of the natural world at our doorstep and drawing on her own experience with the outdoors.
