It's been a long time coming, but the community pool can finally wade on into its achievement.
On Monday, August 23, a grand opening ceremony was held for the new wading pool, known as Darcy's Pool in memory of the late Darcy Rinaldi, who was an avid supporter of the local pool. Mayor John Irwin, members of the pool society, and members of the Rinaldi family were on hand for the event.
"It's been a long time coming," said Sean Michalski, chairperson of the pool society, noting that the wading pool has been more than eight years in planning, fundraising, and construction since it was first proposed. |
Michalski said that he was proud to work with Darcy Rinaldi, who helped design the pool and was always involved with the pool, both with the board and as a regular swimmer.
He said that they are still looking to install a water feature in the future, along with a large bench, but that otherwise the wading pool is complete, though it won't see much use this year before the pool closes for the season.
