Exchange students with the Nippon Institute of Technology's Inter-Cultural Campus in Crowsnest Pass have completed a new carpentry project for the community, and this year they worked to support the Crowsnest Pass Literacy Foundation.
This year's project is a play house for children, six feet by ten feet and nearly nine feet tall. The students developed and designed the project in Japan before travelling to Canada to build it. Fifteen students and two instructors from NIT in Japan were chosen for the trip and the project.

NIT students have been involved in numerous projects in the community, and have been working with community groups, including the Crowsnest Pass Historical Society. This year the students are working with the Literacy Foundation.
The Foundation will raffle off the play house during the 2011 Rum Runner Days weekend to support their literacy programs and efforts in the community.
