Kickboxers with Olsen's Martial Arts Club continue to impress throughout southern Alberta, placing well and winning several categories at their latest competition. Nine competitors from the local club took part in Iron Pride Muay Thai's event in Calgary on Saturday, October 2.
In the Children's Division, Logan Olsen placed third among the 6-8 year category, while Hunter Olsen placed fourth in 9-10. In the Junior Division, the 11-13 age category saw Ian Catonio take second, Cade Collette take third, and Brendan Busato take fourth. Lucas Howard placed first in the 16-17 age group, with Cody Strandquist in fifth. |
In the Men's Kickboxing division, advanced men's middleweight category, Jesse Wocknitz placed first. Wocknitz also took first place in the advanced men's middleweight category for Men's Thaiboxing.
Grace Dobie won first place in two categories as well -- one in the advanced heavyweight category for Women's Kickboxing, and one for the same category for Women's Thaiboxing.
Members of the Olsen's Martial Arts Club who have chosen to compete in events across southern Alberta with the club have done consistently well, a testament to the strong local kickboxing program.
