The new councillors and mayor of the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass were sworn in during
Council’s regular meeting on Oct. 26,
Councillors Siegbert Gail, Brian Gallant, Jerry Lonsbury, Emile Saindon, Andrew Saje, and Mayor Bruce Decoux recited the Oath of Office for the first time, along with returning Councillor Larry Mitchell, all of whom vowed to represent and serve the community to the best of their ability.
Council members were also congratulated by former Crowsnest Pass mayor John Irwin, who offered words of wisdom and well wishes for those newly elected councillors and his successor, Decoux.
Throughout the course of the meeting, Council was informed that some of the issues they will be dealing with throughout the next few weeks will include: budget submission requests; organizing a
pine beetle program on private lands, as the provincial government will no longer be funding one (except on an ad hoc basis); integrating two additional intersections leading on to Hwy. 3 from Blairmore, in order to combat traffic congestion during special events such as
Thunder in the Valley; and a police advisory committee policing survey encouraging Council to enhance policing funding during such special events.
