A charitable donation of $10,200 was made to the
Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation this month by an anonymous donor, and was used for the purchase of a new EKG machine and phlebotomy chair for the hospital’s lab.
The donation was made in honour of the memory of Betty Carnahan, who was born and raised in the Crowsnest Pass, and passed away in August 2008.
Carnahan graduated from the St. Eugene Hospital School of Nursing in Cranbrook, B.C. in 1942, and for more than 30 years following that, she worked as a nurse at various hospitals in B.C. and Alberta before retiring to Blairmore to care for her parents.
The donation in her name was used to purchase the hospital’s new EKG machine, also known as an electrocardiogram or ECG machine, which measures the electrical activity of the human heart, and is used to care for patients with heart disease, or those suffering from a heart attack, angina, or other complications.
