Isabelle Sellon School is currently holding its yearly “Twelve Days of Christmas” food drive in support of the Crowsnest Pass Food Bank.
Students are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food items to bins which have been set up in the front office whenever they can from now until Thursday, December 16.
Twelve bins have been set up near the front office, each representing one of the 12 school days between December 1, when the drive began, and December 16.
According to ISS Principal Paul Pichurski, the school has been participating in the food drive since before he came on board, at least the past decade.
“This is a time of year when some people have trouble getting food on the table,” said Pichurski. “We want to raise awareness for our students that there are some families in their community that need that support.”
He added that it is particularly important to show support of the food bank as Christmas approaches.
“This is an important time of year for families coming together,” he said. “Everyone should have the opportunity to eat.”
The drive will culminate on the day of the ISS annual Christmas concert, which will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15.
