The Blairmore Lions revitalized the Crowsnest Pass Music Festival in 1957. There here has been a local festival every year since then, but the Festival also operated from 1926 to the beginning of World War II.
During that time the Festival has used a number of venues. The Opera House in Blairmore, on the site of the current Elk’s Hall, was home for many years. For a long time Isabelle Sellon School was the home of the festival. Upon leaving Isabelle Sellon School, the Festival used multiple venues. For a couple of years, piano classes were in the Lions Pride Hall. Horace Allen School hosted the choral portion of the festival and bands performed at Crowsnest Consolidate High School. Except for band performances, the festival operated for several years in Crowsnest Centre.
Venues this year are Grace Anglican United Church for strings and piano. Band and instrumental classes are at Isabelle Sellon School. Vocal and choral classes, and the Orchestra are again at Horace Allen School.
Joanne Collier from the University of Lethbridge will adjudicate vocal and choral classes. Ms. Collier has had a significant career as a choral director and adjudicator. All other disciplines will be adjudicated by Kirk Muspratt. Mr. Muspratt was raised in Crowsnest Pass and began his musical training here.
