This week’s Pass Herald masthead is pink, in support of Pink Day - June 1st.

The opening of the Crowsnest Pass Community Swimming Pool was delayed by about one week, after equipment issues caused the opening day to be pushed back last week.
The pool is normally scheduled to open on the Monday following the Victoria Day long weekend, but staff had to postpone due to an issue with the filter tank.
“We have been having issues with our filter tank,” said Pool Manager Courtney Rypien, noting that the complication created problems with mineral and pH levels in the pool water.
Fortunately, she said, staff members were able to resolve the issue later that week.
“The health inspector came in today and gave us the go-ahead,” Rypien said on Thursday, May 26th. “Now we’re just waiting for our water samples to come back clean and everything should be good.”
“If all goes well, we hope to be open on Tuesday (May 31st),” she said.
While word has been circulating that the delay was due to the pool not being winterized properly, Rypien said this was not the issue.

“The main issue is just that pool is really old,” she said. “That makes maintaining our levels a little more difficult.”

Staff of the Pass Pool hope to open their doors this week, after being delayed a week.
The pool serves as the training grounds for the Pass Piranhas Swim Club, whose regular season began on May 1st.
For the past four weeks, the team has been training at the Pincher Creek Swimming Pool, and hopes to get in the water at home as soon as possible.
