Council voted unanimously to centralize all municipal library services and to close the Bellevue Library during a special Council meeting on Tuesday, June 28th.
The vote came a week after Council defeated a motion to endorse the recommendation of the Crowsnest Pass Library Board, which included amalgamating all resources and inventory from the Bellevue and Blairmore branches into one centralized Crowsnest Community Library in Blairmore and to close the Bellevue branch.
At the beginning of the short meeting, Mayor Bruce Decoux noted that under Robert’s Rules of Parliamentary Procedure, Council has the opportunity to vote on a matter a second time, so long as a motion to reconsider Council’s original vote is made by a Councillor who voted on the prevailing side the last time.
Councillor Siegbert Gail made the motion, which was passed unanimously.
