The 11th annual RBC Sole Survivor Foot Race took place on Friday, July 15th, serving as an unofficial kickoff to the Rum Runner Days weekend festivities.
In total, 300 runners from Crowsnest Pass, the Elk Valley, Pincher Creek, Medicine Hat, Brooks, and other communities took part in the two kilometre, five kilometre and 10 kilometre legs of the race, departing at 7:30 p.m.
All together, 33 racers took part in the 2 km run, 215 competed in the 5 km, and 52 ran the 10 km, on a course which runs around the entire community of Blairmore, beginning and ending at the Albert Stella Memorial Arena.
 

In the 5 km competition, Tracey Wakaluk was the first to cross the finish line, with a time of 20:40.06, closely followed by Al Robinson with 20:51.16, and Cameron Welsh with 21:51.01.
The first three racers to cross the finish line for the 10 km leg were Tim Pearson in 36:39.01, last year’s winner Jason Kindrat with 37:23.51, and Andrew Fairhurst with 39:07.66.
The first three women to finish the 10 km were Rachel Poulton with a time of 47:51.81, Julie Anderson with 49:23.91, and Jackie Woodman with 51:41.66.
