Quote of the Week
"We've heard good things about Crowsnest, and the people here are friendly"
- Sergeant Keith Bott

The Blairmore Legion will host a “Classic
Country Show and Dance”, featuring performances by singers Derek Dee and his wife Candy, this Saturday,
October 8th.
The show will begin at 8 p.m., with Dee performing a tribute to Roy Orbison, as well as singing numbers by Marty Robins, Jim Reeves, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, George Jones and other classic country leading men.
Candy will also perform a tribute to Loretta Lynn, and additional numbers by country songstresses such as Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline.

“We cover a little bit of almost everybody,” said Dee in an interview with the Pass Herald.
The pair will perform in full costume, offering a variety of classic country and rock and roll favourites.
“I enjoy performing that style of music because I’m from that era,” Dee said, “and Candy grew up on the music and she enjoys it very much.”
He added that their decision to perform that style of music also stems from discontent with popular country music that they hear on the radio nowadays.
“There are some great singers out there now, but they just don’t sing real country music,” said Dee.
The couple, who currently live in Milk River, have been performing their routine for the past couple of years at several venues across the country.
Last year, the duo did a tour of the Canadian east coast, something Dee has also done several times in the past with other musicians.
Two years ago, Dee performed with other musicians as part of a Johnny Cash tribute tour of the Maritimes, playing 23 shows in 27 days.

He also recently performed at the second annual The West is Best Fine Art Show at the home of Senator Gerry St. Germain in Langley, B.C. from September 16th to 18th.
The show served as a fundraiser for aboriginal education, raising approximately $100,000 this year.
“It was great getting to be a part of that,” said Dee, adding that he received word that Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who was also in attendance, enjoyed his performance.
Having been performing his Roy
Orbison tribute for the past 15 years, Dee said he most enjoys playing at theatres and concert halls, as opposed to bars.
“We don’t really do the bar scene anymore,” he said.
“It’s nice to play somewhere where people are paying attention to you and really want to listen.”
Dee has also performed at the
Blairmore Legion twice in the past, and said he is excited to return this weekend.
The duo will be performing some numbers they have not performed here previously and Dee will also incorporate humour into his act.
“People should come out for this because we sing songs they love, we tell jokes and just put on a really fun show,” said Dee.

“It’s going to be the best show in town for $10,” he said. “For the price you’re paying it’s a nice evening out and there’s not much you can do for less than that.”
“And when the show is over, people can dance their feet off.”
Advance tickets are available at the Blairmore Legion and Sears for $10, and tickets will also be available at the door for $12.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show begins at 8 p.m.
