The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass announced last week that Myron
Thompson will be taking over the position of Chief Administrative Officer at the end of this month.
Thompson, who currently serves as Director of Operational Services, will assume the position which was vacated by former CAO Tully Clifford in June and performed on an interim basis by Kevin Robins of Transitional Solutions Inc. since that time.
Thompson said he is looking forward to his new role within the Municipality, and that it comes with its share of challenges.
“A lot of the roles are similar, but it’s going to require more attention to detail and providing more leadership,” said Thompson.
“There will be a lot more responsibility, and it’s going to be a challenge, but I am definitely looking forward to it.”
Thompson has served as Director of Operational Services since September 2010, and says this will aid him in settling into his new role.
“It’s been nice having been part of the organization for the past year and getting to know the organization, instead of just stepping in and not knowing what you’re getting into,” said Thompson.
“Council has had the opportunity to ‘test drive’ me – we are familiar with each other and have established a good working relationship.”
Mayor Bruce Decoux officially announced Thompson’s new role during the regular Council meeting on Tuesday, November 1st.
“Myron has been with us for quite some time and we’re very pleased that he is prepared to stay and in a sense, take the next upward step,” said Mayor Decoux.
“We look forward to a long and rewarding relationship.”
“This is definitely a higher step within the organization and I appreciate the opportunity that Council has given me,” said Thompson.
