The Blairmore Lions Club presented donations to representatives of the Crowsnest Pass Food Bank and Crowsnest Museum last Wednesday, November 23rd at the Blairmore Lions Pride Hall.
The first presentation was made to Carmellia Saretzky of the Food Bank and Tracey Linderman, representing Crowsnest Pass Family and Community Support Services (FCSS).
Lions Club President Butch Draper, Vice
President Norm Hanson and Past President Don Harvey presented a cheque for $2,500 to be put toward the purchase of food items for the Christmas Hamper program.
Every year, the Food Bank and FCSS team up to provide hampers of non-perishable food and other items to residents who could use a helping hand during the holidays.
This year, the Food Bank and FCSS expect to prepare close to 150
hampers, which will be
distributed to families by local fire fighters.
The Lions also
presented a cheque for $500 - the proceeds from the sale of hamburgers at the annual Crowsnest Christmas festivities on Thursday, November 17th in Gazebo Park - to Crowsnest Museum
Manager Chris Matthews.
According to Matthews, the museum is in dire need of donations in order to keep its doors open.

Currently, the
museum employs two full-time employees
and staff are working
on writing grant
applications through the Alberta Museum
Association and province’s Community Initiatives Program, but even if the funding is awarded it will not be
received until the new year.
Matthews said the museum currently has only enough funds to keep operations going until the end of the year, as operational costs range from $6,000 to $10,000 per month, and between $120,000 and $150,000 annually.
The museum is also asking for the aid of
volunteers to help keep programs running until funding can be attained.
