Regional Partnership
Chief Administrative Officer Myron Thompson informed Council that at a recent meeting in Pincher Creek with various municipal Councils, it was the general consensus that a Regional Services Partnership is desired by all involved.
Representatives of the Town of Pincher Creek, MD of Pincher Creek, MD of Ranchlands and Village of Cowley voiced their approval of the formation of a Regional Services Steering Committee, which would address and discuss shared service opportunities such as the Pincher Crowsnest Landfill Association, SPCA, Pass PowderKeg Ski Resort, Peace Officer Programs, regionalized protective services, and senior administrative positions.
“There seems to be considerable excitement and eagerness to move forward,” said Thompson, adding that each Council will now be required to formally approve entering into a Regional Services Steering Committee (RSSC).
He added that at the meeting, all parties agreed that the Municipality of Crownsest Pass should act as lead municipality in the initiative.
“This is an important step forward,” said Mayor Bruce Decoux.
Councillor Andrew Saje then moved that Council formally approve the Municipality’s participation in an RSSC, which was carried unanimously.
Councillor Brian Gallant then moved that Council authorize Administration to submit the Municipal Affairs Regional Collaboration grant funding application on behalf of the RSSC, which was carried unanimously.

A third motion to appoint a Councillor to represent Council on the RSSC was then made by Councillor Larry Mitchell and was carried unanimously.
Councillor Mitchell then moved that Councillor Jerry Lonsbury represent Council on the RSSC.
The motion was carried unanimously.

Meeting Schedule
Councillor Jerry Lonsbury moved to reduce the number of meetings in January to three – two Council meetings and one GPC meeting - at the request of Administration, in order to allow for more time to prepare items for meetings.
The first Council meeting will be held on January 10th, while the second Council meeting and GPC meeting will both be held on January 24th, with the GPC meeting beginning at 4 p.m. and Council meeting beginning at 7 p.m.
The motion was carried unanimously.

Unapproved Minutes
Councillor Siegbert Gail made a motion that Administration post the unapproved minutes of Council meetings on the Municipal website no later than noon the following day, in order to facilitate better communication with the public.
The motion was carried unanimously.
