The popular Show ‘N Shine which takes place every year on the Saturday of Rum Runner Days could be cancelled this year.
Dennis and Paula Brazzoni, who have been organizing the event for the past seven years, have had to step down this year due to personal scheduling conflicts.
Paula told the Pass Herald that Dennis will not be able to volunteer his time this year, adding that other key organizers are unable or unwilling to take over.
The show generally features between 70 and 100 classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, awards prizes to the best classic vehicle in several categories, and serves as one of the main sources of entertainment to residents and visitors on Saturday afternoon following the parade and leading up to the fireworks display.
“Last year we had a great turnout,” she said of the roughly 75 classic car owners who registered for the show. “It has been getting better every year.”
However, she said if the show is to go ahead, organizing will have to begin very soon. |
“This is the time of year that we need to start doing things and getting things organized,” she said.
“At this time, we should have already had advertising running.”
She said as of yet, no one has come forward to take over organizing duties and that if that persists, the show may have to be cancelled this year.
“Unfortunately, at this point, we have no idea if there is going to be a show this year.”
Brazzoni encourages anyone who is interested in helping out to contact her with any questions they may have.
“We are totally willing to help them get started and to help them understand everything they will have to do.”
