Crowsnest Pass and Area EC Coalition
In November 2011, the Crowsnest Pass & Area Early Childhood Coalition conducted a short survey about the resources and services for families with children aged 0-6 in the Community.
This survey was conducted to give us a better understanding of what helps parents in their role of raising children and what prevents them from utilizing and accessing programs and services within our community.
We received a total of 116 completed surveys. Of the surveys returned, 96% were filled out by a parent or grandparent.
The total number of children represented in the survey results includes 148 children aged 0-6 years old.
When asked:
“How do you find out about programs/resources in our community?”, over 80 % responded “word of mouth”; individual program calendars were second, followed by newspapers, internet, notice boards, agency referral and radio. |
From the completed surveys, results show that 70% of parents/grandparents/caregivers are utilizing parks within our community and 65% access sports programs and recreation facilities.
Close to half of the surveys indicate that preschool programs such as Parent Link, Brighter Futures, Kids Kollege, Daycares, Indoor playground as well as the Public Library, help parents/ grandparents and caregivers in their roles of raising children.
We thank all of you who participated in the survey.
The EC Coalition meets the second Monday of the month.
