Municipality of Crowsnest Pass Council held a regular meeting on May 15th, called to order by Mayor Bruce DeCoux at 7 p.m.
Councillors Siegbert Gail and Andrew Saje were absent.

Chief Administrators Report
CAO Myron Thompson announced in his report that council is having success with social media. Council currently has a website and a Facebook page, with over 30 likes. Bellevue Seniors are requesting new street banners and a meeting is to be held regarding the issue on May 22nd. Protective Services were called out to two grassfires in the past two weeks, and a fire ban is currently underway.

Letter of Support
Council decided to give Southern Region Stormwater Management a letter of support, as they are currently having issues regarding storm water in the Taber region of Alberta.

 

CUPE Request
Council approved a requested contract by Canadian Union of Public Employees stating that members of the union will receive a three per cent wage increase each year of the contract. This contract will be effective as of January 1st, 2013.

Museum Memberships
Council announced that as of Thursday, May 10th, 22 additional people obtained museum memberships. This means that nearly half the population of the Crowsnest Pass own a membership to the Crowsnest Museum.

Bylaws
Second and third readings from Bylaw 846, 2012- False Alarm Bylaw, were approved by council. Second reading of bylaw 847, 2012- To Establish a Peace Officer/Enforcement Bylaw was approved by council. Second and third readings from bylaw 849, 2012- Municipal Emergency Management Committee and Agency Bylaw were approved by council.
