However, I love a challenge, and I am always up for an adventure, so three weeks ago I packed my bags and relocated to Blairmore to kick off my career as a journalist.
Here are some things I have noticed about the Crowsnest Pass:
1. Fresh air. I was seldom exposed to the beauty of breathing in fresh, mountain air while living in Calgary, and now, I’m surrounded by it.
2. Scenery. I will always be a fan of city skylines and skyscraper views, but I must admit, the mountain sights in the Crowsnest Pass are breathtaking.
3. The people. It was common in Calgary to look the other way and avoid eye contact while passing strangers. In the big city, many people followed an untold rule that comprised of minding your own business, so that others would do the same. Here, people are friendly and approachable, which for a reporter trying to get a story, and a newcomer trying to make friends, is a great thing.
I am excited to embark on my career in the beautiful Crowsnest Pass, and I am keen to meet the people who reside here. I am already finding that this municipality is filled with a group of welcoming people with fascinating stories to tell.
