The municipality of Crowsnest Pass Council held a regular meeting on June 19th, called to order by Mayor Bruce DeCoux at 7 p.m. Councillors Siegbert Gail and Andrew Saje were absent.
CAO Report
Chief Administrative Officer Myron Thompson informed council that administration has recently met with the Crowsnest Culture and Recreation Society, also known as Canada Group, and are very impressed with the group, specifically the organization of the group. They have a non-profit society status, and currently about 350 members. New members are welcomed, and memberships are $5 a person.
Reposting for new position Manager of Protective Services, and the interviewing process is underway. “We hope to soon recruit the person we are looking for,” said Thompson.
Peace officer vehicles will be delivered to the municipality on June 25th. Road repairs are now underway on roads in the Crowsnest Pass. “Repairs are short in nature, with a more permanent fix, said Thompson. Construction started on June 20th, and was expected to be done by Thursday, June 21st.
Business License Bylaw
On May 23rd, 2012, the Policy Committee studied the Business License Bylaw and recommended that it be forwarded to Governance and Priorities Committee for changes. If the bylaw receives all three readings before mid-July, it will be enacted and enforceable for Rum Runner Days, held on July 19-22, 2012. “It will be confusing this year, but that’s normal for things that are new,” said Mayor Decoux.
