Young stars participate
in RickyRyp hockey shoot-out

On Saturday, February 1st and Sunday, February 2nd, Initiation teams of 4, 5 and 6 year-olds from Lethbridge, High River, Sparwood, Elkford, Fernie and Pincher Creek played a fun filled weekend of hockey at the Coleman Complex.
There were three games for each team with every player coming out a winner. All playeres received gifts from Tim Hortons, special Thunder tournament hats and a trophy.
As part of the event, tournament organizers, with the help of the RickyRyp Foundation held, a shoot-out.
An individual player from each team was randomly selected to participate in the event in which they shot a puck in an attempt to make it though a hole on a sign placed in front of the net.
Noella Rypien, step-mother of Rick, attended the event and spoke to the audience on behalf of the foundation and the launch of the foundations new website www.rickyrypfoundation.ca
Grant Collings, geared up and helped the young players shoot for the hole.
The shoot-out was was set up in a round robin formate so that a players whose puck was farthest from the whole was eliminated. If one of the players made it through the hole, he/she was an atomatic winner.
In the fifth round of the shoot-out a winner was declared when Colton Wojtowicz from the Crowsnest Thunder shot his puck through the hole.
All participants received a RickyRyp jersey and mini hockey stick set while Wojtowicz won a Rick Rypien hockey stick signed by three members of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team.
The weekend ended with the Thunder Timbits winning two out of their three games with ‘Digger of the Game’ accolades going to Christian Potts, Quinn Douglas and Colton Wojtowicz.
