Municipality of Crowsnest Pass Animal Control Bylaw was brought to Council on Tuesday, March 26th for a revision but discussion was differed until next council meeting. The following are the Animal Control Bylaw fines, for the purposed revision.
Fine Schedule “B” (unapproved)
• Failure to obtain a licence: $50.00
• Licence tag not attached: $50.00
• Failure to control the dog not on owners property: $325.00
• Failure to control the dog not on owner’s property: $325.00
• Failure to meet criteria for a Dangerous Dog on owners property: $325
• Dangerous dog threaten or chase any person or animal: $200
• Dangerous dog bite any animal: $325.00, (plus cost)
• Dangerous dog bite any person: $400 (plus cost)
• Dangerous dog damage public or private property: $325.00
• Dangerous dog running at large: $300.00
• Failure to post “Dangerous Dogs signs: $175.00
• Failure to notify the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass of “Dangerous Dog” at large $250.00
• Animal at large: $150.00
Barking dog: $175.00
• Owner of an animal which causes damage to property: $150.00 (plus cost)
• Owner of whose animal is in an area prohibited by signs: $100.00
• Threaten or chase any person, Domestic animal feral animal, wildlife or livestock: $350.00
• Bite any domestic animal, feral animal, wildlife, or livestock: $750.00
• Bite any person $750.00
• Failure to remove feces immediately: $100.00
• Failure to keep animal in heat properly housed: $250.00
• Dog with communicable disease- fail to confine or permit: $1000.00
• Untie loosen or free an animal not permitted by owner: $150.00
• Tease or torment or provoke an animal: $175.00
• Open a door or fence
allowing an animal to run at large not permitted by the owner: $250.00
• Dog off leash: $75.00
• Failure to comply with off leash provisions: $50.00
• Refuse access to guide dog: $100.00
• Failure to ensure food, water, exercise and health: $200.00 (plus cost)
• Failure to maintain adequate shelter requirements: $200.00
• Leave animal unattended or tethered to a premises: $150.00
• Failure to transport animal properly to conditions: $200.00
• Failure to provide suitable ventilation and water to animal left in car: $300.00
• Possess more than the maximum number of animals: $150.00
• Possess prohibited animal: $250.00
• Obstruct a Peace Officer: $1500.00
• Improper storage of animal attractants: $250.00
• Leave feeder out during prohibited time: $100.00
• Attempt/feed wildlife: $150.00
Failure to properly maintain fruit trees: $150.00 (plus cost)
Failure to follow order: $250.00
First offence within a 24 month period: penalty will be as specified in the specified penalty
Second offence within a 24 month period: penalty will be double the specified penalty
Third or subsequent offence within a 24 month period: penalty will be triple the specified penalty.
