Crowsnest Pass Municipal Council passed second and third readings of the 2013 Mill Rate Bylaw at a special council meeting, which was held last Tuesday, April 22nd, allowing for a mill rate increase of 3.8 per cent, which will accommodate a $193,000 budget reduction.
Councillors Jerry Lonsbury and Siegbert Gail moved second and third readings, respectively, both of which were carried 4-3, with Councillors Brian Gallant, Emile Saindon and Andrew Saje opposed.
The approval of the 2013 Mill Rate Bylaw results in a 3.8 per cent increase for residential, and a 4.9 per cent increase for non-residential.
The first reading of the bylaw was undergone on April 16th, which was carried 4-3, with Councillors Brian Gallant, Andrew Saje and Emile Saindon opposed.
Property tax notices will be mailed out to residents by April 30th and taxes will be due no later than June 30th.
