Popiels Restaurant is about to undergo some major changes.
The restaurant, located on Highway 3 in Coleman, is in the process of adding an outside dining area. The building started on Monday, May 27th and will be completed this week.
The construction is being done by Rinke Homes.
Even though renovations are expected to be done by the end of this week, furniture needs to be ordered and electrical and plumbing work needs to be completed. The opening date for the patio is set for the third week of June.
The patio will be two levels, and surrounded by timber framed tempered glass. The lower level will be used as an additional dining area and the upper level will be a lounge.
“We’re hoping an outdoor patio will bring more business from the highway,” said Brad Clarke, owner of Popiels.
He explained that the goal of a patio is to allow people to experience the outdoor side of dining.
“We have such a prime location, and we want to take further advantage of the scenery,” Clarke said.
Another purpose the outdoor patio will serve is additional seating, as last summer; Popiels often had too many people to seat and were busy many nights of the year.
The patio will allow 55 more people to be seated, upper and lower levels combined. Another feature to the patio will be longer hours, as it will stay open until 8, instead of the normal closing time of 9.
New menus will also be introduced in the next coming months.
