The Crowsnest Pass Community Choir is back for the twenty-second year starting September 10.
The community choir invites women ages 16 and up to come and lend their voices to the group at 7pm in Isabelle Sellom School.
“You don’t have to read music to sing, we’ll teach you,” says Monica Primrose, chairperson for the Crowsnest Community Choir.
“We have a lot of fun, we also perform at the Remembrance Day ceremony and sometimes walk around caroling and (perform) at other special events,” Primrose says.
The choir starts in September and runs into the holiday season with a Christmas concert, says Primrose.
Two new additions to the choir should make this year especially enjoyable for anyone who takes part.
This year, Pianist Tammy Geisbrecht joins the team and Deb Goldstein will head the choir as director.
“She (Geisbrecht) is a fantastic pianist, she can adjust to us,” says Primrose.
Geisbrecht was a choir member last year and did such a great job she was asked to come and lend a hand as the pianist says Primrose.
The choir is a tradition in Crowsnest Pass and Primrose stresses it is the community and people who come out to sing with the choir who keep the tradition running.
“The choir was started by people who love to sing and it is kept up by people who love to sing,” she says.
The choir group starts September and runs until the Christmas concert in December but will be back and running from January to Spring- ending with a concert in May.
The choir group is welcoming people to come and try out September 10, but Primrose reassures us you don’t have to audition to take part in the singing group.
