“I was born here, I raised my family here,” begins Dave Fillipuze, one of the candidates in the upcoming October Crowsnest Pass municipal election.
“I’m running because I am concerned with the community and the direction it is going,” says Fillipuze.
Fillipuze is a 29-year veteran of municipal utilities (water and sewage who announced his intent to run for municipal council after he retired September 5th.
Fillipuze believes his experience will qualify him to offer a new municipal council his guidance especially with issues such as upgrading the Frank Sewer to working and efficient standards.
“There are some issues that still need to be addressed to bring harmony back to the region,” Fillipuze says
Issues like; letting go employees of the fire department, enticing new businesses to come to the community and addressing issue of the now-cancelled Thunder in the Valley are also high on his list of priorities to address if he is elected to council, says Fillipuze.
“I don’t want to get in a negative thing with the past council,” says Filllipuze.
“I’ve got an interest in the community and want to move it forward,” he says.
Fillipuze realizes the commitment of putting his name forward and the task that the new councils will face.
First off, says Fillipuze, if you are elected you have to loo at where you are standing (and what needs to be done).
He believes some sort of restitution should be made to the people let go from the fire department and although he cannot promise anything with Thunder in the Valley he thinks the community is losing business now that it is gone and would at least look at bringing it back if elected to council.
“I do believe there are changes that need to be made,” he says.
“I am definitely going to take that to heart- people of the community need a voice,” he says.
