Misleading signs at a construction site along River Run have 30 days to disappear before they are removed, according to Myron Thompson, Chief Administrative Officer for Crowsnest Pass.
If the signs at the site (located just along Highway 3) are not removed a stop work order will be issued, Thompson said.
Council unanimously passed the motion to begin the required 30-day wait period prior to the stop work order and removal of the offending signs.
“As soon as that’s up we have the ability to come and remove the signs,” added Thompson
Mr. Thompson brought the matter before Crowsnest Pass Municipal council on September 17th.
A directive for a stop work order comes under council’s protection according to Thompson.
It is within Crowsnest Pass municipal council’s authority to issue the directive for a stop work order according to Thompson.
“Land use falls to council for revision,” Thompson said during his report to council.
Attempts to locate the actual owner of the signs have come up with nothing but a street address in Calgary with no business listing according to inquiries by the Crowsnest Pass Herald.
“We tried to call (the number on the sign) but the phone number wasn’t correct,” said Thompson.
“The issue is important because the signs are considered false advertising,” he said.
