The day and night tradeshow/event Blessing of the Hunt was a hit.
Hunting fans enjoyed vendors, hunting tutorials and archery during the day and Yuk-Yuks comedian Scott Dumas, an elk bugling contest and rock band The Chevelles at night, Oct. 19th.
“The response was very, very positive,” said Sacha Anderson, Blessing of the Hunt organizer and director of the Crowsnest Pass Agricultural Society.
“Everybody loved it- it really resonated with the people of the Crowsnest Pass.”
450 people walked through the doors of the Bellevue MDM Saturday afternoon and another 150 came for the nights’ events, according to Anderson.
Jason Acorn from WildTV’s, ‘The Boneyard,’ gave an audience some tips and tricks for hunting with a video camera.
“I wanted to stay away from the hunting- stay away from myself and my exploits,” said Acorn after the presentation and added he wanted to focus on camerawork.
Acorn recommends using a handicam if you are new to filming yourself while hunting and using a tripod to cut down on shaky footage.
He added it was best to have at least two people if you are filming your hunt, that way there is at least one person hunting and one person filming.
“It’s not one person trying to do both.”
Acorn isn’t a newcomer to the Crowsnest Pass area having first hunted in the region last year but, he hopes to do more in the future.
“I shot a mule deer.”
The Wild TV star hopes to set-up some roots in the Pass.
“I want to connect with the community and meet some of the people,” he said.
Proceeds from the night are being donated to local organizations like the Turtle Mountain Riding Club, Bellecrest Society and the Coleman Community Association,” said Anderson.
“We’re still looking at bringing it back next year bigger and better.”
