Fantin’s Funeral Chapel, a locally owned family business, welcomes it’s 50th year operating out of Blairmore this November.

“For every family we serve we try to exceed what they personally expect,” says Darrell Sydora, owner of Fantin’s Funeral Chapel.

In addition to its 50th anniversary, Fantin’s is getting a pat on the back for its extraordinary dedication to customer satisfaction by receiving the 2013 Crowsnest Pass Chamber of Commerce’s award for Business with Most Outstanding Customer Service.

Fantin’s Funeral Chapel was awarded along with Stones Throw and Dream Team Consulting at this years Chamber awards, November 9th.

“We have one opportunity to do the best that can possibly be done,” says Sydora.

“So our standard of service must be exceedingly high.”

Fantin’s Funeral Chapel once was a business owned by Blairmore locals Ernie and Ann Fantin who began the business in 1963.

The couple sold the funeral business to Service Corp International Canada in 1995 who hired Darrell Sydora in 1996 to manage daily operations. Sydora bought the mortuary service in 2007.

“Ernie and Ann are both members of the community and I think it’s our duty to uphold and exceed their example.”

Fantin’s is mainly operated by family and friends of the family so they are able to do all their own preparation work on services, which is what makes them unique and adds a personal touch to families.

Fantin’s provides their own personal touch with in-house alternations, build their own urns and caskets and they don’t out-source their furneral stationery.

This means they don’t have to carry the price from retailers and the money they save is passed on to the customers.
