Six weeks on the job and the new director of protective and community services for the Crowsnest Pass is already aware of “critical decisions” and “financial implications” that may face the community soon.Lyle Hannan, the new director, is partially responding to the ongoing Recreation Feasibility Study, which is nearly concluded and will assist the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass on some major development decisions.
“There are a lot of important decisions that have the potential for significant financial implications coming up,” said Hannan.
“I will be working with the project steering committee to go over some of the findings.”
“The coming report is expected to be published and brought before Crowsnest Pass Municipal Council in the late winter”, said Hannan, who added this report could affect councils’ decisions on the long term future and renovation needs to facilities such as Albert Stella Arena and Pass Pool, as well as other parks and recreation infrastructure in the Crowsnest Pass.
The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass is undergoing many changes; from a new Mayor and Council, to the new CAO Sheldon Steinke, but, Hannan hit the ground running in his new role.
“Its good, it’s busy seeing who is involved with the area,” he said.
“We’re getting everybody ready to roll into budget season.”
