Smelling blood in the water, the Pass Piranha Swim Team put on their best performance of the year at the Crowsnest Community Swimming Pool on July 11 and 12.
The Piranhas came in second place overall behind Lethbridge, ten Piranhas won aggregate medals and about fifty posted personal best swim times.
“We did really well,” says Piranhas swim coach Heather Dutton. “That’s the highest we’ve placed in a competition all year.”
The Crowsnest swimmers range in age from their mid forties, to just above toddler. One of the weekend’s competitors was just three-years old.
“I’ve never seen a three-year old swim at a meet,” says Dutton. “But they did extremely well.”
“Eight teams and about 255 swimmers from all over Southern Alberta participated in the Crowsnest Pass Piranhas Invitational”, said Lisa Sygutek, Meet Manager.
Many of the Piranhas were participating in their first competitive swim.
At the end of the competition, aggregate medals were presented to the best overall swimmers.
