Using a combination of videos, humour and rock and roll, musician Robb Nash gave a presentation to hundreds of local high school students on some difficult issues facing youth December 4 at Crowsnest Consolidated High School (CCHS). Students from Livingston School also attended.
Nash told the students about his miraculous recovery after being in an automobile accident with a semi during which he received a fractured skull and lost much of the feeling in his right arm.
Inspired to do good with his second chance at life, he started giving free concerts to youth, telling about his experiences and discussing a host of tough subjects including bullying, addiction, self-harm and suicide.
Janet Elder, family/school liaison counsellor, said that her favourite part of the show was the way Nash acknowledges that bad things can happen in our lives but it is important to recognize our potential to do good, help others and make our lives count.

“Guess what, pain doesn’t go away,” Nash told the students. “Your life is going to be full of painful days but listen closely; if your pain doesn’t go away, neither does your strength.”
Elder and Principal Wes Wescott invited Nash to perform at CCHS after he recently performed in Lethbridge.
“I think when anybody can talk about the subject matter that was covered in today’s presentation while incorporating humour and alternative mediums like music… I think that’s quality,” said Michael Mertz, family/school liaison counsellor. “Numerous students approached me afterwards and said it made them think and it motivated them to make positive change, plus it was entertaining.”
