You’ve never seen a bunch of kids so happy to be at the dentist.
On Dec. 4, the Boys and Girls Club of the Crowsnest Pass were at the grand opening of Crowsnest Dental, caroling for charity and enjoying sandwiches, hot chocolate and sweets, of all things.
“We decided we wanted to fundraise for a community group this season,” said Cheryl Oczkowski, Crowsnest Dental’s office manager.
A handful of citizens gave donations to the club but Oczkowski said Crowsnest Dental topped off the funds to make sure it went home with an even $100 at the end of the event.
Crowsnest Dental, a part of Lethbridge based Able Dental Group, has been operating in the Pass since 2009. Its staff had been working out of two separate clinics but they’ve been consolidated into a brand new office recently built at the site of the former Blairmore Legion.
The new clinic opened in September but Oczkowski said they held off on their grand opening until Friday so it could coincide with the holidays.

“We wanted to hold it in conjunction with Christmas in the Mountains and have it full of the activities and hustle and bustle of the season,” said Oczkowski.
“We’re proud to offer state-of-the-art equipment and a nice beautiful new building,” she added.
Dr. Bryan Burrows, Dr. Chris Holladay and 10 other staff members including registered dental assistants, dental hygienist, sterilization technicians and front-end administrators operate Crowsnest Dental.
Patients have access to both a dental surgeon and a prosthodontist out of Lethbridge.
The new, open plan clinic features a sterilization centre, comfy looking operatories, where you lay down and get your teeth cleaned and a digital X-ray machine that decreases radiation exposure to patients.
