Lisa Sygutek, editor of the Pass Herald newspaper, received the Gold Quill on behalf of Trevor “Buddy” Slapak, the newspaper’s late editor of 67 years, and the Silver Quill on behalf of her mother Gail Sygutek, who was editor of the Pass Herald for 47 years. The quills, awarded by News Media Canada, recognize individuals who have demonstrated a longtime dedication to the newspaper industry and who have conntributed to the association.
